Saving Money!!!

Automatic Savings App!

Hey guys! So this app called “Qapital” that I use is the perfect way to make saving money easier! It is a trusted app and if you are sketched out at all by it, feel free to go to the website here for more information or do some research yourself.

Sign up here to get $5 after your first automated savings deposit goes through!

Goals

Qapital allows you to create multiple goals and you can even choose categories for each of them! The goal categories are:

  • “Do something”
  • “Go somewhere”
  • “Get something”
  • “Pay off debts”
  • “Just start saving”

It also has a “Something else” option so you can personalize your goal! On top of that, you can choose an image for each goal you have so every-time you look at your app you are still motivated to save!

“Rules”

You can choose one or more rules for each goal you have!

Round-up: This is a way to “save change” without needing to use cash! So for example if you pay $14.75 for something, Qapital will put 25 cents into the saving goal you set up with that rule. You can even choose to round-up to either $1, $2, $3, $4, or $5!

Set & forget: Choose an amount you want to save and then choose if you want to save that amount every day, week, or month! So maybe you choose $20 and every week. Qapital will automatically save $20 every Monday!

Payday: For this rule overtime your bank account gets a deposit of more than $50 for example (or whatever you choose), you can select a percentage of the deposit that will be sent to your Qapital savings goal!

Guilty pleasure: This rule allows you to save money anytime you spend money at a place of your choosing. This might help you stop your bad habit of getting $5 coffee every morning which will save you money or it will help you save money by automatically saving a desired amount every-time you buy your coffee! You can choose places like McDonalds, Target, Caribou, Starbucks, Chipotle, etc.

Spend less: Set an amount that you want to spend less than every week or month at a specific place (like the examples above) and then save the difference! So if you want to spend less than $15 a week on coffee, if you only spend $10, capital will save the remaining $5 and put it in your savings goal!

Freelancer: Automatically save 30% on every deposit that is larger than $100.

52 week: With this rule, you will save $1 on week 1, $2 on week 2 and so on for 52 weeks! This will save a total of $1,378!

Apple Health: This rule is connected to the Apple health app! You can choose between walking/running distance, steps, workouts, and stand hours. You set a specific number or amount of time you want to complete and then an amount of money you want to save every time you complete the workout goal you set!

Customize: This rule allows you to turn any activity into a “trigger” to save money! You can choose to save whenever you post an image to Instagram, whenever you post a tweet to twitter, and other things like that!

Review

Overall this app is great for saving money due to the fact that it’s automatic. The hardest part of saving money is the act of having to put money into a savings account yourself because let’s be honest, we would all rather spend money than save it! So, if you’re interested in signing up for this app, use the link here to get $5 for free after you save money for the first time on the app! I hope this app helps you guys save some money!

Talk to you guys soon! -Kaet

“Adulting”

Hey guys so I decided that we could get a little more serious and talk about the topic of “Adulting”. Personally this topic freaks me out and yet, I’ve been excited for it for what feels like my whole life. So anyways, I wanted to get a couple of things off my mind about what’s making me nervous while looking ahead a few months.

College…

Oh my, I never realized how scary this word was until my third trimester of high-school started. I have looked forward to growing up my whole life but truthfully, now that it is becoming so real, I would like to be 5 years old again please! I’ve spent so much of my life going to school, so why does college scare me so much? Well, let me tell you why. Expenses, responsibility, and “adulting”. The funny thing is, I don’t even plan on going to an expensive school. I’m going to a community college for generals and most likely doing it online but, for some reason the number of the price still makes my stomach flip. As for responsibility, not only do I have to do homework and study for classes that are supposedly 10x harder than high-school but I also have to make sure that I make time for everyone in my life even though i’ll be busier than I already am..

I’m not even sure what I’m going to major in yet to be quite honest. This year I fell in love with psychology in my AP psychology class but there are so many things I would like to major in! I’d like to learn more about business and how to work computers. I want to learn how to write better and speak in public. I’d like to learn how to cook delicious food that I can one day make for my family. SO MANY THINGS AND NOT ENOUGH MONEY!!! Or time for that matter.. But, whatever I decide on, I still plan on keeping up with this blog that I have become very excited about and possibly even broadening my “LivingShamelessly” theme to YouTube! Why not, right ?

Moving Out…

Another expense, another responsibility, and another sign of me “adulting”. And yet, another thing I’ve dreamt about for as long as I can remember! Scary? Most definitely. Disastrous? Maybe… But impossible? HELL NO!!! Recently I have been thinking about things I would need to buy if I moved out and I think that’s what scared me the most. Once you think about it, you obviously know you need a lamp but do you realize you need light-bulbs too? Yes you’ll have your clothes but are your parents gonna let you take all the hangers? These are the questions that scared me but I plan on continuing looking at moving out as a positive thing and remembering that just because things are a little scary sometimes, doesn’t mean you should let them scare you off the path you’ve looked forward to for so long

.

I just wanted to add that this website is meant for people to help each other out, to learn something, and to feel like they can come here for support. 3 Tips To Stay Motivated!

Is your hard work not paying off? Do you feel like you’re stuck in a rut? Well I have a few tips to stay motivated when you feel like giving up.

I live in Minnesota which means even though it’s “spring” there is still snow on the ground. This is actually what inspired this post. The winter time is when I and I’m sure, many others, experience a lack of motivation. Let’s change that!

Focus on the process, not the outcome!

Focusing on the outcome is likely to reduce your motivation because it starts to feel so distant. If you start to focus on the process of what you are doing, you are more likely to get stuff done and stay on track!

Think of what you can do better!

Ask yourself and others what you can do better! With whatever your focusing on, some advice on what you can do better may re-spark your interest and make you feel more motivated to work on it. Plus, you can end up with some really good advice that really will make whatever your focusing on so much better!

Put in all your effort!

A LOT of people think that motivation comes first and then from motivation, comes the effort. This is completely FALSE!!! Putting in effort day in and day out will actually make you feel more productive and like you’ve accomplished something! These feelings will actually give you some of the motivation you need to keep going!

* “People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing, that’s why we recommend it daily.” -Zig Ziglar *

These 3 tips help me whenever I lack motivation so I hope they help you as well! If you find yourself needing more tips to stay motivated I recommend watching Kenzie Elizabeth’s youtube video! She is one of my favorite people to watch on YouTube because of her Girl Boss vibe. Click here if you want to check her out!

5 Staple Fashion Pieces Every Woman Should have!

All Things Fashion !

1. A basic white tee-shirt!

Plain white tee’s are a great staple fashion piece to always have in your closet. They are simple which makes it that much easier to dress up into a stylish outfit with some accessories or maybe some dress pants! But the nice thing about this clothing piece is, it can also be dressed down. A cute flannel or a jean jacket tied around your waist with some ripped jeans makes an adorable simple outfit! It’s perfect for when you want to look cute but not go overboard.

As you can see, the plain white shirt makes these pants POP and although the outfit is simple, it is definitely classy and stylish!

This is cute and stylish but not too “dressy” which is a great fashionable outfit for a more casual day!

2. Black ripped skinny jeans!

My black ripped skinny jeans are my favorite pants when I want a edgy fashion look BUT, they can also give you a more sophisticated look when you want one!

A thick, long scarf and some brown booties is just one way to add sophistication to your black jeans!

ALL BLACK EVERYTHING! Black leather jacket, black shirt, and black booties is the exact edgy fashion look I was talking about! It is a perfect outfit if you’re in a “don’t mess with me” kind of mood… Does anyone else have that mood or is it just me?

3. White and/or black high-top converse!

The edgy look is definitely easy to master with a pair of high-top converse in your closet! They work with simple outfits and even dressy outfits. My converses are one of my favorite pairs of shoes and I can wear them with just about any outfit!

Both of these looks are edgy but as you can tell, you can choose different clothing items to get a different level of edge! The left image has black tights and has a more edgy look but the right has a more casual but slightly edgy look!

4. Black booties!

Ugh, black booties! Another one of my favorite staple fashion items! Black booties dress up just about any outfit! Personally, I like my booties to have a little more heel but the ones with less heel dress up an outfit just as much!

Now take a second and imagine each of these outfits with converse.. I know, they are still cute even with converse! But as you can see, black booties have a big impact on just how dressy these outfits look!

5. High-Waisted jeans!

High-waisted jeans are perfect for anyone who enjoys wearing cropped shirts and sweatshirts but they also look wonderful with shirts that you prefer to be tucked in!

Here is an example of both the tucked in shirt and cropped shirt with a pair of high-waisted jeans! The variety of outfits for high-waisted jeans is endless!

8 Tips to Stay Healthy in College!

Disclaimer: This post contains affiliate links.

Hey guys! I am starting college this coming fall and I came up with some tips to stay healthy and avoid the famous “freshman fifteen.” If you are in or going to college and want to stay healthy, keep reading!

First: Water is your best friend

Water makes your metabolism work faster and keeps you feeling full. Now, this may be an obvious one but I also learned a couple other reasons drinking water is healthy. Water actually helps remove waste from your body.. ya know.. in the southern region… AND it is the base of your saliva and the enzymes in your saliva help break down your food which is an important part of digestion. Now maybe you already knew those things but hopefully some of you are just as shocked and fascinated as I was. *Cough cough, nerd alert*

Although this post is about staying healthy, it’s also about college and with college comes stress acne. So i decided to point out that water is also really good for your skin and helps you maintain a “as smooth as a baby bottom” face.

Since you’re gonna be up and about a lot in college i’d suggest getting a water bottle and get a cute one if you need a little motivation to drink some more H20!

Click Here for a cute water bottle!

Walk more

If you leave close to your college, walk to class! It keeps you in better shape but it also saves gas money and is better for the environment. Don’t forget your water bottle (;

Smoothies are your new coffee

If you’re anything like me, coffee is your breakfast. I just don’t have an appetite early in the morning and coffee keeps me satisfied until lunchtime. Smoothies are healthy unless you add ice cream, which is really yummy…. OKAY so maybe being hungry while writing this post wasn’t the best idea.. oopes! Back on topic, say no to ice-cream in your smoothie! Add some kale to your smoothies to get more health benefits and if you don’t go overboard, you won’t even taste it!

Meal Prep

Avoid constantly eating out and snacking on your favorite junk foods by meal prepping for your week! If any of you want an example of what to food prep or how to food prep, leave a comment letting me know so I can create a meal prep post for you guys!

10 minute youtube video workouts

The biggest excuses for not working out are, “Im too busy” or “I can’t find time to go to the gym, are you crazy?!?” Well ladies, you no longer have an excuse because everyone can find 10 minutes in the morning, at night, or in the middle of the day to squeeze in a short at home workout!

Try to find interval workouts, these are really effective and since you are only putting in 10 minutes of work, honey, your gonna want it to be effective!

Click here for a youtube workout video thats under 10 minutes by Blogilates (she’s pretty awesome).

AVOID ELEVATORS

If you live in a dorm or an apartment, always take the stairs! Not every dorm has an elevator but if yours does, AVOID IT! Yes, taking the stairs isn’t going to ensure you stay healthy but a lot of little things like this go a long way. Hopefully none of you end up on the 15th floor, that wouldn’t be fun…

No more late night snacks

Okay, let’s be honest here. Eating at night is like the absolutely most enjoyable time to eat, am I right? Unfortunately eating before bed doesn’t allow your metabolism to break down the food properly because your metabolism slows while you sleep and your body will store the food as fat! I guess all the best things in life come with a price. (Feel free to give in every once in a while to avoid going insane).

Get your beauty sleep

The more sleep-deprived you are, the higher your levels of the stress hormone cortisol, which increases your appetite. I don’t know about you guys but what my stomach says, goes. If my stomach is growling at me for food, I’m gonna feed the beast. So keep your beast in its cage by getting a good nights sleep, every night!

Okay guys, those are the 8 tips to stay healthy in college. I hope these all help you guys out and I hope they help me out when I go to college too. It’ll be a challenge we can face together!

BOOKS THAT TALK ABOUT SUCCESS AND MONEY

LEARN HOW TO ACCESS YOUR WEALTH

The thing that had the biggest impact on my decision to start this blog was the realization that wealth is available to everyone, we just need to learn how to access that wealth. Now, i’d like to say that I had that realization all on my own but the truth is, if I wouldn’t have read books that talked about money and success, I would still be thinking “I’ll start a blog when I’m a little older and actually have money.”

BOOK RECOMMENDATIONS

Today, I am going to give you short descriptions of two books with these topics that have been useful and enjoyed by many people just like us! If the descriptions are enough to fill you with motivation, awesome! Use that motivation and start learning how to access the wealth that is available to you! If the descriptions don’t quite do the job, look into reading one or both of these books, it’s definitely worth it!

This book talks about changing your mindset and beliefs about money. If you think about the way she talks about mindset, it pretty much goes along with The Law of Attraction. This book allows you to have a clear relationship with money and gives you motivation to start tapping into your wealth. It has a 4.6/5 star rating on Amazon and is said to be enjoyable but easy to read! If you are interested in getting ahold of this book, it is priced at $12.63 for the paperback. (The link is underlined and located right above the image of the book).

This book is meant to give you an insightful look on self-development. The habits mentioned in this book can improve your happiness AND success. The author organized his writing with a really good structure that makes the information  easy to follow and apply in your day to day life. The book is rated at 4.5/5 stars and is priced at $10.25 for paperback. (Link is underlined and above the image of the book).
Now, these are just the two books that I personally enjoyed but feel free to look through Amazon Books yourself! Amazon has plenty of books to choose from in these categories, just make sure you look into the ratings and/or reviews before purchasing! Hope these books help you as much as they’ve helped me! Leave me comments with any questions you have for me and let me know if you’ve decided to purchase either of these. If you find a book that you liked more than the two I share, please tell me the title and author so I can give it a read!
